Designed over 16 miles of water line replacement associated with the
construction of State Highway 130 for 5 different water utilities.
Central Texas Highway Constructors was contracted to complete the construction of State Highway 130 from south of Austin to Interstate 10 in Seguin. All utility relocation was included in their contract which included miles of water lines and coordination with multiple water systems. The timeline was extremely tight with numerous moving parts.
Southwest Engineers was hired to coordinate and design the water line relocations for 5 different water systems along the Highway route. A new water pump station was also designed as part of the needed construction. The entire water relocation project cost over $5.2 million.
Over 16 miles of water lines were constructed along the route meeting every time line required. Now the utilities have new and improved systems and at completion in late 2012, Texas has the fastest highway in the nation. The water systems needs were also protected to ensure their long term ability to serve their areas.
