JOHN LITTLEFIELD, OWNER & PRESIDENT

John began his career at Southwest Engineers when he was barely 16 and then attended The University of Texas at Austin. As he matured in the field of engineering, John began to apply his education and experience to lead, grow and manage the Southwest Engineers team of experts in sustainable engineering practices. As President of the firm, John’s main priority is to keep the same high standard of client service he witnessed his father produce and continue to grow the company with future-focused design. He enjoys spending time with his son, taking yearly trips to national parks, hiking and golfing.

CLARENCE LITTLEFIELD, FOUNDER & VICE PRESIDENT

Clarence has over 50 years of extensive experience in the planning, design and construction management of municipal water and wastewater systems. This includes water wells and intake structures, surface water and groundwater treatment plants, many types of water storage facilities, and water distribution systems for communities throughout Texas, as well as, extensive experience with municipal wastewater collection and treatment systems. He is an expert in obtaining grants and aid for a wide variety of municipal and related projects. His ample knowledge in public sector water, wastewater systems, and roadway and drainage design projects has helped shape the firms’ ability to consistently serve customers with quality engineering design. In 2007, Clarence sold Southwest Engineers to his son, John Littlefield, and shifted his role to providing passionate engineering services for clients.

JERRY SHEPHERD, HEADQUARTERS BRANCH MANAGER

Coming from Refugio, TX, and completing his education at Texas A&I University, Jerry has over 33 years of extensive experience associated with projects for small Municipalities, Utility Districts, Counties, Water Supply Corporations, River Authorities, Industrial Plants, and Private Developers. A member of the SWE family for 7 years, he is the Headquarter Branch Manager and a helping hand to all in the office. During his off-hours, Jerry enjoys camping, playing guitar and piano, as well as hanging out with his wife and their two dogs and four cats.

CHRIS DRINGENBERG, CENTRAL TEXAS BRANCH MANAGER

With 34 years of industry experience and seven years of those spent at Southwest Engineers, Chris leads our team with his knowledge and expertise in institutional and multi-family developments. Born in Missouri, but Texas raised, Chris has two sons and a niece who also have also become a part of SWE. Chris enjoys Italian-style cooking, baseball card trading, and spending time with his family.


MIGUEL GONZALES, SR. P.E

Miguel has been practicing civil engineering for 18 years, seven of those he has spent at Southwest Engineers. He has been a long-time friend of many other SWE P.E’s including Gabe, Derek, Matt, Chris and Russell. From a small Texas town known as Diboll, Miguel grew up to love fishing and traveling to different islands and coastlines, his favorite location is Playa del Carmen.

NEAL GOEDRICH, P.E

A native of Schulenburg, TX, Neal grew up to attend UT Austin where his older brother was John Littlefield’s roommate. Soon after, a college trip to the 2005 Rose Bowl got John and Neal talking about engineering, one month later John called Neal and he has been at SWE ever since. Along with 12 years in the Gonzales office, Neal’s life outside of work consists of playing with his three children, going fishing and hunting, gardening and tending to his cows.

TRAVIS FLAKE, SR. PROJECT MANAGER

Originally from Dripping Springs, Travis landed a job at Southwest Engineers. With 11 years of experience, some of his preferred projects include a 200+ acres subdivision in Bastrop that will soon be a single family residential development. Most of his work is in commercial development, and he has worked on a number of multi-family development projects in the past. When not busy with work, Travis likes to spend time with his two daughters and two dogs.

JEFF KALLUS, P.E

Jeff Kallus has over 7 years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting and design software, Pipe2010 hydraulic modeling software and field surveying while at SWE. He has assisted in the design of multiple water distribution lines, water plant improvements including composite elevated tanks, ground storage tanks, pumps, plant piping and pressure reducing stations. In addition, he has experience in TCEQ applications such as wastewater permitting and certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) applications.

ERIC SCHULZE, P.E

Raised in Seguin, TX, and a 2002 Texas Tech graduate, Eric picked up the phone to find the best place to put his skills to use. He has worked at Southwest Engineers since that time and appreciates the family-oriented environment, which he has become an integral part of. Eric has design experience with water distribution, treatment and storage, but finds wastewater collection to be challenging and most interesting. When not working he likes to spend his time hunting, fishing, and coaching his eight-year-old son in baseball.

MATT DRINGENBERG, P.E

An Austin-born Longhorn, Matt has worked for SWE for what will be three years July 2017. Some of his favorite projects to date are the Nutty Brown Business Park and the development of A&E Signs. Outside the engineering field, Matt considers himself a film fanatic and enjoys watching football, and trading baseball cards with his father, our central Texas Branch Manager, Chris Dringenberg.

GABE HOVDEY, PROJECT MANAGER

Gabe grew up in the City of Missoula, Montana and went all the way to Hawaii before finding himself here in Texas. He has ten years of engineering experience, sharing almost four of those years with Southwest Engineers. He works on all types of land development projects but mostly focuses on commercial, single family and multi-family residential developments.. When he isn't working, Gabe enjoys a variety of hobbies including golf, scuba diving, running, and mountain biking. He also has three cats, but only one with a normal name… Star.

ALLISON GUETTNER, P.E

Originally from Yoakum, TX, Allison found her way to SWE as an intern one summer after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UTSA. Later she completed her Masters in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M and has recently returned to work in our Gonzales office. With considerable experience in land development and six years in the industry, she brings key engineering support to existing projects. When not working, Allison enjoys golfing, fishing and spending time outdoors.

RUSSELL KOTARA, P.E

From San Antonio, TX, Russell was also a friend of Chris, Gabe, and Miguel when they worked together in their previous firm. Our own Matt Dringenberg was actually Russell’s intern when he was still a college student. Russell has recently settled into the Southwest Engineers Buda office providing engineering support with his 15 years of experience as a P.E. When not working, he spends his free time gardening, hanging out with his children, going to church, having BBQ, and watching football.

ALBERTO GUTIERREZ, GRADUATE ENGINEER (EIT) ENGINEER IN TRAINING

Albert comes from Laredo, TX, and has worked as a Project Engineer at SWE for two years. Some of his favorite projects include commercial development, such as The Addison Grove wedding venue in Dripping Springs. In his spare time, Albert practices weightlifting, yoga, and meditation. He is also active in drawing, painting, and reading as well as spending time with his son and their Chihuahua.

MARIAH INCE, GRADUATE ENGINEER (EIT) ENGINEER IN TRAINING

Mariah also comes from Gonzales, TX, the location of the SWE headquarters. Mariah interned with SWE and quickly became an official part of the family. When she is not supporting other engineers and coordinating meetings, Mariah likes to spend time reading, drawing and painting. Her baking skills have brought her fame in our office as she is known for her delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies and banana bread.

ANGIE POSADA, COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Born in Venezuela and eventually Texas raised, Angie has joined the Southwest Engineers family as marketing and communications coordinator. She graduated from Texas State University and will continue forward in her professional career at both the central Texas office and headquarters in Gonzales. In her spare time, Angie loves cooking, hanging out with friends and practicing photography.
