Second Annual Engineering Scholarship Awarded

Southwest Engineers is proud to announce the winner of its second annual engineering scholarship. Clayton Mikes of Hallettsville was awarded a scholarship worth up to $5,000.00 to pursue a civil engineering degree. Clayton is a 2008 graduate of Sacred Heart with plans to begin at Blinn College - Bryan in August, with expectations to transfer to Texas A&M within a few years. He has been extremely active in community and church volunteer activities, and athletics. Clayton is the oldest son of Jimmy and Roseann Mikes of Hallettsville.

The annual scholarship is awarded to encourage local area students to pursue the opportunities available to graduate engineers. Each year it goes to a local student planning to study civil engineering. Students graduating each year from school in Hallettsville, Shiner, Gonzales, and Yoakum are eligible to apply. Interested students should see their school's counselor for details.
