Intern Program Participant Joins Team Full Time
During the summers of 2007 and 2008,
Chris Belcik of Hallettsville participated in the Southwest Engineers internship program.
In December 2008, Chris graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a bachelor of science in civil engineering
and will join Southwest Engineers full time.
Chris joins the team as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), a title given only to those engineers that have passed the
Fundamentals of Engineering Exam as required by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.
As part of the Southwest Engineers intern program in the summers of 2007 and 2008,
Chris gained real world experience in water distribution design, computer aided drafting,
utility mapping, topographic surveying and other related fields.
As an EIT, he will assist Professional Engineers with engineering design of
water distribution facilities, storage tanks, wastewater collection mains, lift stations,
booster stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities, drainage structures, and roadway projects.
"We are very extremely happy to have Chris join our team.
In 2007, we implemented a summer internship program and we are very proud that both participants
in that program have decided that Southwest Engineers was where they wanted to start their careers.
Chris will be a great addition due to his work ethic and abilities,"
stated Southwest Engineers president John Littlefield."
Chris graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Hallettsville in YYYY, before attending Texas A&M.
The work experience he will gain will prepare him in becoming a professional engineer after the apprenticeship period is over.
